Movement is imperative for children, especially in early childhood.  Big muscle movement allows children to explore their environment, use their imagination and expend energy.  Children need a chance to run and play outdoors.  Unfortunately in the United States, recess time has dwindled in most elementary schools.  In Finland, most students get an average of 75 minutes of outdoor activity as compared to only 27 minutes in America.

Opportunities such as yoga, creative movement and finger play with music enhances analytical learning by connecting ideas in movement with music and art.
